About the Painting

Sunshine and Sprockets is a painting that refuses to whisper. The whole surface glows orange, and the gears come out to play: hot pink, turquoise, violet, and lime, spinning against checkerboards, zigzags, and little bursts of line work. A few of them are smiling. One has a tiny heart and a flower tucked inside it, like a secret the machine has decided to share.

Look closely and you'll find something new each time. A starburst gear opens like a daisy. Arrows point in a dozen directions at once. Patterns collide and somehow get along. Nothing here is lined up in neat rows, and that is the point. This is a world where the machinery is happy to be in motion, where the parts aren't cold or serious, and where everything fits together because it's all moving toward joy.

For me, this painting is about choosing delight. Gears usually stand for pressure, effort, and the grind, and I love turning them into something that radiates warmth. The smiles are small reminders that the work of living can be playful, and that you can be powerful and still be having fun. If a day feels heavy, this is the painting I'd want on the wall.

The black frame makes the colors hotter, like a window opened onto a sunnier place. It's a piece for a studio, a kitchen, a creative workspace, or any room that could use a jolt of energy. It would also be a gift for someone who needs a reminder that bright things are allowed to be bold.
